The lights are on

Sunday 30th November 2025 marks the first day of Advent – the date many of us officially dust off the decorations and welcome the season in style. The Lights are OnBut, true to form, the UK's most festive towns simply couldn't wait. Across the country, Christmas lights have been sparkling for over a week already, casting a magical glow for all to enjoy.

According to Time Out magazine, the 11 most festive UK towns this year are Grasmere (Lake District), Windsor (Berkshire), Stratford-upon-Avon (Warwickshire), Mousehole (Cornwall), Ludlow (Shropshire), Oban (Argyll), Bournville (Birmingham), Llangollen (Denbighshire), Whitby (Yorkshire), Chipping Campden (Cotswolds) and Buxton (Derbyshire). Each earned its place thanks to an outstanding dedication to festive cheer–think enchanting markets, spectacular light trails, magical Santa experiences and vibrant Christmas festivals.

If you're looking to rival these towns for Christmas 2026, Harrogate Christmas & Gift is the place to start. Here you'll discover the latest innovations, trends and must-have decorations to elevate your festive offering.

Proud historyHogewoning

"Let me take you back to the year 1926," explains Anouk Schuchmann. " My grandfather, Willem Hogewoning, began growing flowers at the age of 21.

What started as trading at the auction, developed into a flourishing business in dried flowers and, in time, home decoration. His life's work lives on – almost 100 years later – and continues to grow. It is something I am personally incredibly proud of.

At Harrogate, we are delighted to present our new autumn winter Collection 2026. In our opinion, this is our finest collection to date and I warmly welcome you to visit us at the show."
