Warm welcome to Harrogate

Anyone unfamiliar with the Christmas industry would be forgiven for thinking that they'd gone 'back to the future' as they entered the halls of Harrogate Convention Centre today. Here the festive season is far from over with seven halls packed with exciting new products, festive smells and twinkling lights.

If you attended today, you will have enjoyed the atmospheric buzz of activity on the stands, interspersed with Christmas carols, laughter and chatter as industry colleagues meet again, often for the first time since the show last year.

This is a not to be missed event for anyone in the Christmas business, whether that be a garden centre or department store selling lights and decorations; an independent retailer or a heritage centre shop seeking new and unusual gifts. For those staging events throughout the year there is an abundance of great ideas including companies offering bespoke solutions for shopping centres, garden centres and visitor attraction displays and grottos.

If you haven't already attended, there is still plenty of time to do so. The show is open tomorrow (16th January) until Wednesday 18th January.

Indian inspired

Bollywood Christmas'55s paper-mache decorations are lovingly hand-crafted by skilled artisans based in Kashmir, India. Each and every decoration is moulded by hand using paper pulp, dried on rooftops and then hand-painted. Each decoration passes through numerous pairs of hands with different layers of paint and design. The range is a mixture of traditional Kashmiri design, the company's own designs and a fusion of the two.
