With Christmas last year practically cancelled for all, consumers are making up for lost time and splashing out on festivities for 2021 according to the British Retail Consortium trade body which reports that total sales this November were 5% higher than November 2020. It also advised that total retail sales grew 4.1% in November 2021 compared to the same month in 2019. In addition, separate Barclaycard data shows that total consumer spending was 16% higher last month than in November 2019.
