With visitor numbers to Harrogate Christmas & Gift 2011 up a staggering 25 per cent on the previous year, the organisers were overwhelmed by a further 10 per cent increase for the 2012 show.
The overall consensus from both exhibitors and visitors is that the new design and layout of the exhibition, incorporating new halls at the Harrogate International Centre, created an incredible buzz and a bustling atmosphere at a level which hadn't been experienced for many years. Order books were overflowing and visitors were leaving happily stocked up with products for the entire year. It has been commented that there is no other exhibition in the UK which caters so specifically for Christmas and gift focussed retailers, in particular garden centres, with one visitor even stating that without Harrogate Christmas & Gift they wouldn't be able to 'do' Christmas.
A substantial presence this year was Premier Decorations which occupied the entire new Hall H, bringing not only its Christmas and gift ranges, but Halloween and garden accessories too. John Athwal, managing director, comments: "This year was one of the best for as long as I can remember. We had a really good time in our new home and saw lots of new customers. We were delighted that both existing and potential new customers made the effort to visit us. With the organisers reporting a 10% increase in visitors, surely Harrogate Christmas & Gift Fair is a must for any serious Christmas decoration buyer and Premier will be back next year."
Despite the festive name of the show, there was a notable increase in the presence of exhibitors with product ranges for the home and garden from interior ornaments, silk flowers and pot pourri to garden sculptures and chimineas. Hill Interiors in particular stands out for its huge range of beautiful furniture and items for the home, displaying an array of products from dining suites and wall units to table lamps, ornaments and a huge collection of message plaques, which appear to be the rage for consumers this year.
Julian Potter, general manager of Hill Interiors, said: "This is the second year we have exhibited at Harrogate Christmas & Gift Fair and the growth of the show is outstanding. The value of our orders in 2012 was three times that of 2011 (which we are happy with!). Garden centres love it as they are quiet at this time of year and a lot of bulk buyers are in big buying mode and are looking at your product before seeing the crowds at Spring Fair. Our customers like to buy at Harrogate as they get the first pick of the new stock and it's a great place to stay."
Simon Anslow, show organiser, concludes: "Harrogate Christmas & Gift has certainly found its niche and is proving to be the first port of call for buyers from the garden centre retail sector as well as those looking specifically for Christmas themed products. We will look to further expand these sectors next year and hope to bring in a bigger and even more diverse range of products to the show."

As its name suggests, Fair to Trade Ltd works with recognised fair trade producers across the world to bring quality hand crafted Christmas decorations to the UK market and for the fourth time, the company is bringing its beautiful range of products to Harrogate Christmas & Gift Fair.
Fairtrade is about better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world. David Woodcock of Fair to Trade comments: "On a visit to India earlier this year to meet our papier-mâché producer, we discovered a fair trade project producing beautiful zari embroidery and metal decorations. The group is based about a four hour drive from Delhi and as well as promoting fair trade practices and providing training for the producers to become self-reliant, also funds a monthly medical camp and helps to support children who can't afford to go to school.
"We will be launching both the metal and zari ranges at Harrogate and are very excited about supporting the work of the group as well as introducing these beautiful and great quality decorations to the UK market."
The embroidered decorations are available as baubles, stars and hearts and come in a variety of rich colours. The zari designs incorporate beads, sequins and plenty of gold thread recreating patterns that date back to the Mughal era.

Beautifully hand-crafted glass ornaments are not only works of art, but also gifts to hand down from generation to generation and there is little doubt that Luxorna's creations will be adorning Christmas trees across the world this year.
A family owned business, Luxorna prides itself on quality and every piece in its range is crafted by professionals to create luxurious, exciting and innovative ornaments. Starting in the blowing hall, the skeleton of each ornament is built by heating the glass with blow torches and at this stage additional adornments are added.
After resting for a few days to ensure conformity to Luxorna's strict quality control, each ornament is then covered on the inside with silver nitrate giving a beautiful silver glow. This technology has been perfected by Luxorna's dedicated craftsmen over the years and it is because of this heritage and dedication that its Polish glass ornaments are known as some of the best in the world.

In addition to Salco's launch of red, white and blue items in preparation for the 2012 Olympics - of which the company is generously donating 20% of profit from sales to the charity Help For Heroes; 2012 also brings some exciting new additions to Salco's Christmas collections.
The glitzy gold collection has many new handcrafted figurines, drinking glasses, gift bags and box designs; while the red festive collection offers new decorative flowers, picks, decorations, festive doormats, highly fragranced cinnamon spice candles and room diffusers - in fact everything to create the perfect traditional Christmas.

Another in a long list of product advancements from National Tree Company is the Dual-Color Low-Voltage LED Lights system with pre-lit trees incorporating the most advanced lighting system available on the market.
There is a single string of bulbs (rather than two sets of light strings) and colour can be changed from soft white to multicolor and back again with the tap of a foot switch. Another benefit of this lighting system is the use of Low-voltage LED bulbs, which are energy-efficient with each 100-bulb string using approximately 1.15 watts of power compared to the 44 watts of conventional lights sets. They are also long lasting, up to 25,000 hours of service compared to about 3000 hours from incandescent bulbs. Plus, because of the low energy consumption, low-voltage LEDs are cool to the touch and pose no risk of shock or fire.
Dual-Color Low-Voltage LED lights are available on all hinged tree styles, are easy to assemble and include the foot switch for control of the lights. Please visit us in Hall D at Harrogate Christmas & Gift or visit www.nationaltree.com for more information.
